Meet your music therapist!

What’s your name? Sarah Donovan

What instruments do you play? I’m firstly a singer. I studied vocal performance in college before music therapy. I also play the piano and guitar, and simple percussion. I have dabbled in ukulele, recorder, and ocarina.

What are some of your favorite musical genres? My tried and true is pop music of all flavors. I also love rock from lots of decades, Irish folk music, dance, and Latin music.

Who are some of your favorite musical artists? Ed Sheeran, BTS, The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Elvis Presley, and Frank Sinatra, just to name a few.

What is on your “greatest hits” playlist? Music from every decade from the 1940’s through the 2020’s, and every genre from doo wop, boogie woogie, hip-hop, show-tunes, soft rock, and jazz.

What brought you to music therapy? My sister is my inspiration. She has autism and intellectual disabilities, and she has always connected so powerfully with music. It is a wonderful avenue for socialization. I became a music therapist to bring that connection to others, and share my love of music.
