About

Sarah Donovan, MT-BC

Sarah Donovan is a Board-Certified Music Therapist and owner of Asa Grace Music Therapy. She is based in Lebanon, Tennessee, and she serves the middle Tennessee area. She studied Vocal Music Performance at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. When looking into careers in music, Sarah found inspiration from her sister, who has autism and intellectual disabilities. Sarah wanted to use music to improve others’ quality of life. She went on to study Music Therapy at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. She was one of the founding Music Therapy interns at NHC Place Sumner in Gallatin, Tennessee. At NHC Place Sumner, Sarah developed a passion for helping older adults find connection and purpose through music. She obtained her board certification in Music Therapy in August 2021.

Sarah works as an independent contractor, and specializes in group and individual music therapy for older adults, especially those with dementia, physical disabilities, and mental illnesses. Her group sessions incorporate live music engagement, social interaction, instrument play, and gentle movements. Sarah also specializes in Music and Movement groups, where she combines recorded music with seated movements for a safe form of exercise for older adults. Sarah offers individual sessions with one-on-one engagement, where she addresses goals such as: increased socialization and self-expression, providing a sense of purpose, providing coping mechanisms for emotional needs, helping clients re-connect with their musical abilities, and creating a musical legacy through therapeutic songwriting. She is available for consultation per request. Contact her here.
